Demonstrating coding skills

Coding skills are in demand, demonstrating these skills creates career opportunities.
‍Shaipup not only provides easy access for development, it can also give access to people you want to influence.

"At the end of a PhD, the core skills are in demand. Sharing easy access to code insights gives evidence of what has been done rather than just telling people what was done"

Next steps

Build a Shaipup profile and ideally link it to your institution

Shaipup not only provides tools to execute code, but it also allows you to provide information that helps users understand the background of your research code. Building a Shaip profile engages potential users. Try to organise an institutional account; this will allow your work to be featured under an institute banner. Reach out if you're not sure we can help make this happen.

Create a collection of Shaips that can be publically accessed via the Shaipup Hub

It is tempting to try to get a single Shaip to do as much as possible. However, users find it much easier to follow a series of smaller Shaips that break the code into smaller functional units. It is also easier to manage code in smaller chunks.

Promote your Shaips via publications and social media

Use version control to track changes and updates to your Shaips. When you are happy with a final version and maybe at the end of your PhD, reach out to the TerraCipher team, and we can help you assign a digital object identifier (DOI) that can be used to promote access to your Shaip in publications and via online posts.
